This movie, covering just the first half of the book, is essentially a drama. The main character, portrayed by Timothée Chalamet, is the center of the action. He does a good job, but not up to the deep spirituality portrayed in the book. Lady Jessica Atreides, played by Rebecca Ferguson, does a much better job of capturing the quiet power of the religious order she belongs to. The special effects are well done, but not central to the slowly unfolding plot. Nominated for 10 Oscars including Best Film
