Chief Chick Comments

This is a well made, well acted film by Martin Scorsese based on the book, Killers of the Flower Moon. That being said, I hated watching it. I knew it was based on actual events, and I hated the ease with which the criminals killed members of the Osage tribe and others when it suited them. The Osage had been moved to a crummy part of Oklahoma when oil was discovered on their land. Overnight they became the richest people per capita in the US. Well, money attracts pure evil. One scheme was to marry a female member of the tribe in order to gain control for yourself and the children when her family and perhaps she died. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart who comes back from World War I-The Great War and is hired and housed by his Uncle William Hale. He marries Mollie a member of the Tribe and the machinations begin. You suspect Hale is not the nice guy he pretends to be, and you would be right. Over 50 Osage members were killed in order to enrich the whites who moved to Fairfax County. It is most disturbing. It's really disgusting to watch, and I couldn't wait for it to be over. There are some movies I cannot watch a second time and this is one. It truly is a well made film but too disturbing for me. Feel free to disagree.
