Yes, Jack Nicholson plays a less than attractive older man who wants to reconnect after the death of his wife. Some funny moments especially with the incomparable Kathy Bates. I am from the Midwest yet find some of the scenery lifeless which I think is intentional in this and other movies (Nebraska for example) in order to set the mood of the main character. Not bad but worth a rent if you like the main actors.

I LOVE this movie. Kathy Bates is absolutely Wonderful, so is every other actor in this but she just SHINES. I've actually known many women just like the character that she plays in this, and she just nailed it. As did Jack Nicholson. I was very impressed with him too. Boring, was not a role that I would ever guess him being able to pull off.
