Chief Chick Comments

You really should see this beautiful movie. If you were paying attention the last 20 years, you know something of the story of Maria Altmann's quest to recover from Austria the famous Woman in Gold by Gustav Klimt ( properly titled, Adele Bloch-Bauer), from the Austrian Government. She was supported and led in this mission by young attorney E Randol(Randy) Schoenberg, the grandson of famous Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg. Randy had a young family and eventually quit his job to pursue this case through the Austrian system, the US Court System and eventually arbitration back in Vienna. I have seen the painting of Adele Bloch-Bauer and, yes, it is truly magnificent. I hope the Academy remembers this movie at the end of the year. The movie's flashbacks truly make the viewer feel the genuine 1930's in Vienna at the home of a wealthy Jewish family. The costumes are lovely and detailed as is the beautiful apartment and art work. The screenplay, direction, reinactments of the 20's and 30's and the marvelous acting of Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds should be rewarded. Loved it!
