Chief Chick Comments

Testament of Youth is based on the best selling novel of the true experiences of Vera Brittain during World War I. Vera desperately wants to go to Oxford and her brother, Edward, convinces their father to allow her to sit for the exams. When World War I breaks out, Edward, and his friends including Roland who has fallen for Vera enlist as one of the great adventures of their lives. Of course, the War was much different than they expected. Vera cannot bear to do nothing for the effort and volunteers as a nurse. She actually saves her own brother's life when he is left for dead. The main actors are not yet well known, but Alicia Velander is exceptional in this role. The film is very moving and I believe it will make my list of best movies of the year. It has not opened in many theaters but is well worth the effort to seek it out.
