If you love creepy thrillers, this movie is for you. In a story which turns into itself, Jason Bateman(Simon) stars as an up and comer who has just taken a big job at an LA firm. He and his wife Robyn buy a lovely mid century modern home in the hills. While buying for the house, they run into Gordo, a high school classmate of Simon's. Gordo begins to stop by and leave gifts forcing the young couple to acknowledge him and invite him tentatively into their lives. Gordo is played by Joel Edgerton who both wrote and directed this beauty. You may also recognize him from last year's The Great Gatsby(he played Tom Buchanan, Daisy's husband) and Zero Dark Thirty. He does a beautiful acting job as the creepy, creepy friend. There is no supernatural stuff to draw away your attention, but the story itself can grab you especially as the tables seem to turn. The home of the couple is lovely, and as Robyn is a designer, it seems beautifully decorated in a casual yet compelling way. In a true test of interest in a movie, I looked at my watch not once.
