Kate Winslet plays Tilly who has returned to her small town in Australia circa 1951 with significant design and dressmaking skills. The town is less than thrilled to see her, but she is determined to help her Mother and to uncover past secrets. Liam Hemsworth is a local man who went to school with Tilly 25 years ago, but even he does not know the truth of a tragic event 25 years old. Hugo Weaving is very good as the cross dressing constable of this town. I think the movie could have well ended about 30 minutes earlier with more satisfying results; however, based on a book, that was not to be. There is satisfaction as well as tragedy. Men who love independent movies will enjoy this one; however, superhero/ thriller movie lovers will probably not.
