Close call on taking a date. There are some tear producing scenes in this movie but it is a good story well acted by Octavia Spencer and Kevin Costner. The movie opens with Elliot(Costner) at the hospital after he wife has died from a traffic accident. As a successful lawyer, he lives in a lovely home in Los Angeles. He soon hires a tutor to help his granddaughter, Eloise, with her math. Although his wife Carol, had a good relationship with the paternal grandmother, played by Spencer, Eliot does not particularly. When the grandmother sues for custody represented by her big time lawyer brother, Eliot fears he will lose custody of the only loved one left in his life. I enjoyed the movie and hope you do as well, but bring your hankie.
