There are very few teens as mature as Mandy Moore's character, Jamie. That being said teens and twentysomethings would do well to try to emulate her. I was certainly not a brave teenager, but can appreciate how hard it is to be one. Jamie is the daughter of the widowed preacher while Landon lives with his mother who is divorced from his Doctor father. Landon gets into trouble and the principal requires that he volunteer, clean the school, and be involved in the school play. Jamie is involved and he realizes that she is "something" not just another "let's have fun" girl. There is something, however, the two have not shared. This story is taken from the Nicolas Sparks novel of the same name (Sparks wrote The Notebook-a REAL tear jerker). Keep your hankie handy. Only one profanity in this movie.
