Chief Chick Comments

The cinematography is beautiful in this period piece about Ellen (Nellie) Turner, youngest daughter in an acting family, who meets Charles Dickens-already famous and married with 10 children when she fills in for one of her sisters in a play with Dickens. She is an avid Dickens fan at a time when Dickens is arguably the most famous non-royal in Britain. She knows his work very well and he is impressed with her sensitivity to his work if not her acting. Much of the story is told in flashback from the time when Nellie is respectably married with a child and directing children's plays but still disturbed by her past. Note: The R rating seems a bit too strong for this movie.
