I recently watched this movie on a long plane flight for the second time. It was not until 2 hours into the movie that I realized for sure I had seen it before. Starring Julia Roberts, I should have remembered it well. The self absorption of Elizabeth Gilbert "Liz" played by Roberts really got on my nerves after a while. It may be fun for many women to watch, but the idea that many of us could finance and take the time for this kind of world travel adventure to "find ourselves" is unrealistic. The book was a best seller and the movie did ok. But on further review, I cannot love it. At best, the Italian scenes and Ashram scenes in India are interesting and make you want to visit. It must be tough to be a beautiful, well to do writer who can run around the world looking for a new life. Please let me know why I am wrong!
