Chief Chick Comments

J J Geddes is hired by a woman to find out if her husband is cheating. Her husband, she says, is Hollis Mulwray, the head of the water department in mid 20th century Los Angeles which is caught in a drought. Water is very valuable and when Hollis Mulwray is murdered, J J finds out that his real wife is Evelyn, played by Faye Dunaway, not the woman who hired him. This very dark movie is disturbing in many ways. Roman Polanski was the director
