Chief Chick Comments

The Belle Epoch is on full display here in Paris as Michelle Pfeiffer plays Lea de Lonvel, a now rich woman who has conquered many men and their fortunes. She has a somewhat combative relationship with Madame Peloux whose son, whom she calls Chéri, she has known since he was a child. Madame Peloux, also now rich, arranges to have Lea visit and "run into" Chéri. Predictably, the bored boy goes for his old friend who is still very, very stunning. Six years pass when his mother decides he should marry so she can have grandchildren. This turns out to break both of their hearts. In English
