Apparently, the 70's were much sleazier than I remember. If you like period decorating(sleazy), clothing(sleazy), and comb overs (real sleazy), you will like this movie. On the other hand, it is interminably long, with a wandering story, and women featured who only wear very low cut von Furstenberg like wrap dresses. The male critics have dubbed this one of the "best movies of the year". Not so fast. You might enjoy diving back to New York and environs 35+ years ago…at least for an hour or so, but ultimately, you will look at your watch many, many times. One BIG positive, the performances by Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jeremy Renner were spot on. And the period music is fun. Worth a look, but don't expect the best movie of the year. Note: while nominated for 10 awards this movie won 0.
