Chief Chick Comments

Glenn Close is nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Joan Castleman, wife of Joe Castleman. Joe has just been told he is to receive the Nobel for Literature (circa 1992) and they are to travel to Stockholm. David, their son, is an author and a bit estranged from his father. Christian Slater plays Nathaniel Bone, a biographer, who wants to profile Castleman. Joan is supportive and loving but reveals more than she intends perhaps because of her husband's frequent infidelities. The truth results in a horrific argument as the movie ends. Note: Close's actual daughter, Annie Starke, plays Joan as a young woman.
