Chief Chick Comments

Well, this is another oddball Oscar nominee(3 nominations including best film); however, not offensive or difficult to watch (except one scene). We see Carl, a male model, auditioning for an ad and later with YaYa his spoiled and manipulative girlfriend. The title of the film is taken from the phrase which refers to the space between a person's eyebrows where they can frown or seem happy perhaps. Eventually, since YaYa is an "influencer" they board a luxury cruise with very, very rich people. Their trip is gratis because of YaYa's influencer status. We meet a number of folks who made their money in interesting, sometimes offensive ways. The crew on this small ship are trained to say "yes" to anything a guest wants! Really? Eventually, a sudden change causes a reversal of roles. You will immediatly recognize what has happened...and it seems almost normal. The ending leaves you up in the air. I decided for a happy ending but you may not. Worth watching but not the Best, I think.

I agree with chief check. I found the movie intriguing, although at times disgusting. Characters were somewhat extreme, but the story moved along, pretty well. I did not assume happy ending, but hope I am wrong. Don’t know that we will ever find out. Was saddened to learn that the actress who played Yaya passed away at the age of 32 right after the film was made!!

I liked it, ( sort of a ship of fools/titanic flick). I suspected the last scenes, but am conflicted with the ending possibilities: death or livelihood? You’ll need to figure it out for yourself. Worth watching. And look up the bio of the actor who plays YaYa. Tragic.
