The Laundromat

(2019.00) - 95 min - R

Netflix movie about illegal money laundering, tax evasion and outright theft done internationally with the help of a Panamanian Law Firm, Mossack Fonseca. This "story" is based on the scandal but the storytelling is inventive. Meryl Streep plays a widow who finds the insurance meant to compensate her is nowhere to be found!

Chief Chick Comments

The subject can be a little complicated but Meryl Streep's character is determined to find out what happened to the insurance money due her after a fatal accident which killed 21 people while on a boat trip. Banderas and Oldman play the partners of this real life law firm who spent only a short time in jail. Yes, there is a political message here, but you do not hear it until the end. Much of this rings true!
