Chief Chick Comments

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on the best selling book by Daphne Du Maurier, this is a "must see" movie for all women. The list of hopefuls who auditioned for the lead role included almost every top actress in Hollywood. Joan Fontaine( sister of Olivia De Haviland who turned 100 this year!) plays the new and insecure wife of Maximillian de Winter the owner of a massive estate on the seaside where his former beautiful and adored wife drowned some years before. Mrs. Danvers still runs the house and is very devoted to Rebecca's memory. Interestingly, we never know the name of the second Mrs. de Winter who narrates the story. Interesting, scary, mystery and the winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture.
