Chief Chick Comments

Creepy, creepy, creepy!!! If you like Film Noir, this remake is for you. Guillermo del Toro delivers the goods in his direction of the film. Stan wanders into a carnival at the end of the Great Depression, does odd jobs, and learns how to be a mentalist. He is clearly a damaged but magnetic man. Many stars in this movie and the result is a good story well acted. I, however, am glad I saw it on an afternoon as the kind of nightmares you would actually get if you saw it before bedtime, would be very, very bad. If you like horror films and especially Film Noir, go for it. Not for me, however. Nominated for 4 Oscars including best film.
