What is this movie about? A mystery?, mental illness?, good or is it bad politicians?, Family dysfunction? All of the above? I found this excellent movie hard to anticipate and now hard to describe. Through a series of flashbacks during a very contentious dinner between two brothers, one a candidate for Governor who is currently a congressman and the other a high school history teacher. Some of my favorite actors are featured especially Richard Gere, Laura Linney, and Steve Coogan who is usually featured in comic roles. Their sons, cousins ( one an adopted black child) have done something very bad. There is an open question about whether they will be caught. The conversation between the parents never gets off the ground as one of more of the participants stomps away from the table in a huff or to talk to another politician about a vote sponsored by Richard Gere's character the following morning. The restaurant at which they eat is very exclusive, creative, and frankly prissy. If you have ever been to one of these restaurants, the "show" will look familiar. I was surprised in almost every scene. I really was not sure, even at the end, how or if the story is resolved. If you can still find it, see it!
