Chief Chick Comments

Loved this movie, and I think you will too. Buddy, a Protestant boy, lives with his family in Northern Ireland as the troubled times rise in the late 1960's. Despite the seriousness of the situation the family finds itself in, there is a light hand here under the guidance of director, Kenneth Branagh. Buddy is often hilarious in his own childlike ways. Ciaran Hinds and Judi Dench are both nominated for Oscars as is Kenneth Branagh as director. The movie too has a fair chance at the Oscar, I believe. Van Morrison's music is wonderful throughout the film. Loved it!

Why are you asking me to rate this film based only on my watching its trailer? Most trailers make movies look like 5s, as this trailer does. My "3" rating is merely my best GUESS about what it is AFter one watches it fully, that being a neutral rating "in the smack-dab MIDDLE," because you want me to rate it BLINDly.
