Melancholy story of Kate and Geoff on the verge of celebrating their 45th Wedding Anniversary with a black tie dinner with all their friends. The childless couple talk about many things including their lack of photos highlighting their life together because Kate said it was better to live life than waste your time taking photos. A week before the party, Geoff receives a letter from Switzerland telling him that 50 years later, Katje, his girlfriend from that time who was lost in the Alps, has been found frozen in a glacier. Charlotte Rampling is really exquisite in this role as a wife trying to understand the husband she has loved and supported for so many years and to adjust to a new reality. The somewhat cluttered home seems to remind the viewer of their now cluttered lives. We never see the sun in this English town…perhaps Kate never will.
