Chief Chick Comments

M Night Shyamalon( The Sixth Sense) wrote and directed this film about two teenagers who go to visit their estranged grandparents after they reach out to their daughter(the childrens' mother). The story is told literally and figuratively through the lens of 15 year old Becca's camera and with the help of her 13 year old brother, Tyler. Becca has decided to make a movie of their visit and hopes to find something which can ultimately reunite her Mother and Grandparents. The charming rural Ohio grandparents meet Becca and Tyler at the train station and initially seem like very cute, ideal grandparents. Cookies are baked; games are played. However, at night strange things begin to happen…. By the way, this movie is billed as a Comedy and a Horror film and remarkably both are displayed. Tyler is an amateur rapper and we see a few of his hilarious raps. No, this movie is not as definitive as The Sixth Sense and certainly not as good, but there is something compelling about it. I was scared…and I did laugh-an usual combination. I thought the end fell flat, until the credits rolled. Make sure you stay for it!
