Chief Chick Comments

Monroe is good but perhaps Olivier is miscast in this comedy about an aging Prince in London for the coronation of George V with his son, the actual King of Carpathia. In fact, Olivier is the producer and director of this movie. As the story begins the Prince picks Monroe from a stage line for a little romance, but Monroe turns out to be much more than he can handle and never seems to go away. Too bad she had to wear the same costume for nearly the entire movie. The filming was apparently a real trial and Olivier despised Monroe by the end as she constantly arrived late and messy for the shoots. While the end of the movie is ambiguous, there are some funny moments. Truly a movie of the 50's which probably does not measure with today's films.
