Chief Chick Comments

If you are a Melissa McCarthy fan, you will like this movie but probably not love it. Otherwise, it is not really so funny. The trailers seem to have the funniest parts and you usually feel a little pity for Tammy, the main character. She hits a deer, wrecks her car, is late for work at a fast food joint and is fired. Then she arrives home to find her husband dining with Toni Collette's character. She marches two doors down to her parent's home where she ends up picking up Grandma played by Susan Sarandon for a road trip. It turns out Pearl, Grandma, had a 6 month affair some time ago with a 1970's rocker and on the trip picks up Gary Cole who is age appropriate and is chaperoned, not too well, by his son, Bob. Some misadventures later, Pearl's rich lesbian cousin played by Kathy Bates takes them in. At 96 minutes, the movie still seemed a little long. You won't hate it, but you won't love it.
