A story you may know at a high level is Edward Snowden's revelations via The Guardian Newspaper about the NSA's illegal spying of US citizens. The Movie tells us much, much more. Whether you believe Snowden is a traitor or whistleblower on illegal activity, the story told by Oliver Stone in the movie is extremely interesting. The most chilling statement, I felt, was when Snowden opined that if there is not check on the illegal surveillance of Americans, what will happen if we elect a President who will activate everything revealed in this movie? It is more than illegal spying according to Stone and Snowden especially as it relates to other countries, many of them friends. Regardless, this may be the "story of the year" whether or not it is the movie of the year. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is fantastic as Snowden and Shailene Woodley very good as his girlfriend Lindsay. I recommend it.
