Chief Chick Comments

I loved this black and white movie which is vastly superior to the 1952 remake. Ronald Colman and Madeleine Carroll are fabulous. Carroll is extremely beautiful and was the highest paid actress of her time making $250,000 in 1938. Carroll plays the Princess Flavia who is to marry her cousin, Rudolf the next King of their Eastern European nation. They never liked each other, but when Rudolf, the English cousin, steps in, Flavia becomes quite enchanted with the man she believes is the King. The scenery looks real and the black and white photography make it seem more like the end of the 19th century when the story takes place. Great group of actors as well. Worth a see.
