Chief Chick Comments

Do you have trouble differentiating between Amy Adams and Isla Fisher? Well, I do and during this movie, I really had to give it some thought! Adams plays Susan, an art dealer with an attractive deal-making husband of almost 20 years. One day a manuscript dedicated to her arrives from Edward, her previous husband whom she left in a bad way. She begins to read the novel as we see it played out before us. It is a haunting thriller with Gyllenhaal who plays Edward as well as the husband in his own novel while Isla Fisher plays the wife in the novel. As the past and the fiction play before us, we bounce but know where we are. Someone described this Tom Ford (yes the fashion designer also) directed movie as " A Hot Mess". It is unique, I think, and interesting with lots of open ends, I suppose. Michael Shannon is nominated for Best Supporting Actor at The Academy Awards. Thought provoking and strange but something compelling about it.
