Lovely romance as it turns out even though the second half of the show is a bit creepy in the country home of Lord and Lady Walderhurst in England. Emily is the occasional secretary of Lord James Walderhurst's aunt who is trying to get her nephew remarried (after the death of his first wife) in order to produce an hier to the Marquis and the estate. James who is a bit older is not interested in the rich American girl or the other English girls introduced by his Aunt. Instead, he visits Emily's shabby boardinghouse and proposes saying that he regards her as intelligent and hopes she will accept him as a husband even though she does not love him. At the wedding she meets, officially, a cousin and his Indian wife who are destitute but who are next in line if James and Emily do not produce an heir. After James unexpectedly must leave to join his regiment in India, strange things begin to happen at their country estate after the cousin and his wife show up unannounced. Entertaining and a bit creepy
