Chief Chick Comments

This is a lovely, bittersweet story of Ben and George who marry after 39 years together. George is a music teacher at a Catholic school and is fired when his marriage is discovered by the Archbishop. This aging couple can no longer afford their condo and must sell; however, finding an affordable apartment is very difficult in New York. Ben goes to live with his Nephew and family in a small apartment while George sleeps on the couch of a former neighbor. The space literally and figuratively is very, very crowded as they struggle. When Ben falls and breaks his arm, it seems all is lost. But then George meets a young man with a rent controlled apartment which will soon be available. The music is beautiful in this movie as is the steadfastness of the couple and the love of their family and friends in difficult circumstances. The R rating seems wrong to me. Apparently, there is a bit of swearing but I do not remember it. The affection between the two men is not R rated but that may have influenced the rating none the less.
