Chief Chick Comments

This charming French comedy with English subtitles has just opened in selected theaters. It is my favorite of all the movies in theaters now. Jacky Bonnot has worshipped at the feet of Alexandre Lagard, one of Paris's most well known chefs although they have never met. When Jacky ends up being fired for the fourth time in 4 weeks for his insistence on the best cuisine, he starts a painting job at an old folks home where by chance Alexandre visits an old friend and tastes the soup made by Jacky. There are rocky patches, but in order to save his 3 star rating, Lagard must impress upcoming critics who prefer the new avant grade infusion cuisine. When Béatrice, Jackie's 9 month pregnant girlfriend, finds out he has lied to her, she lives him for Nevers, the home of her parents. Amidst much hardship at the restaurant in Paris, with roadblocks constructed by the manager of the restaurant group, they must create a new spring menu to impress the critics, win Béatric back, and Alexandre must convince his daughter who is defending her thesis that he supports her as well. Loved it. A Must see….By the way, it appears that Alexandre lives in a beautiful apartment at the Place de Voges in the Marais. Fun to see Paris!
