Chief Chick Comments

Natalie Portman sounds exactly like Jackie Kennedy in this Pablo Larrain directed view of Jackie Kennedy in the days following Jack Kennedy's assassination. And she looks very much like Jackie Kennedy, as well, although Portman is quite petite. We see the pink and navy Chanel suit she wore in Dallas and the red dress she wore as she gave a tour of the renovated White House on national television. I felt at times that Portman's Jackie Kennedy was a bit mad. Perhaps she was following President Kennedy's assassination. For those alive who remember that horrific day and the solemn and memorable days that followed, it is seared into one's brain. And this movie did a faithful job of recreating that time. Much has been written about Jackie Kennedy, but she was well known as a private woman. I have to believe that the screenplay "assumed" quite a bit. Yet, as I was drawn into the story, I felt drawn back to November of 1963. I think you will as well. It is beautifully filmed. See it.
