Chief Chick Comments

This according to Harris Polls is Americans favorite movie of all time. Vivian Leigh fought hard for the part of Scarlett O'Hara as did many stars of Hollywood when it was announced this bestselling book was to be made into a movie. While some details of the book are deleted, the essence of Gone With the Wind endures. Clark Gable is truly the dashing Rhett Butler and a real hunk. The most famous movie quote of all time is his when he says "Frankly my Dear, I don't give a damn" Olivia de Haviland and Leslie Howard also star. de Haviland is the only star still alive. Vivian Leigh won for best actress, and Hattie McDaniel won an Oscar as best supporting actress. In fact this movie won 8 Academy Awards including Best Picture in a year which included nominations to The Wizard of Oz, Wuthering Heights, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, Love Affair, Goodbye Mr Chips, Stagecoach, and Of Mice and Men. Wow what a year for fabulous movies. Gone With the Wind was in Color which was really a leap forward. You must see this movie, but beware it is very very long at almost 4 hours.
