Tough call on whether to take a date. The movie probably appeals more to women; yet the story is engaging even if it is about two teens who meet at a cancer support group. Hazel is 16 and has her GED. Because she needs oxygen constantly, her activities are somewhat limited. Her mother, played by Laura Dern, forces her to go to a cancer support group where she meets Gus, who has lost a leg but has been cancer free for 18 months and is there to support a friend. Gus(Augustus Waters) is charming, funny, and persistent and insists on pursuing Hazel. He even reads her favorite book and to please her figures out how to meet the author who JD Saliinger-like refuses to write another book or respond and has retreated to Holland. I think only one swear word so had to check "obscenities" but nothing major. Bring your hanky!
