Chief Chick Comments

Lovely story with some humor about Danny Collins (Al Pacino) who at his birthday party is given a framed letter written to him by John Lennon after reading an interview with Collins when he was just starting out. He imagined what his life would have been had he received the letter when it was written. Danny goes after the local hotel manager, Mary, played by Annette Bening who politely and amusedly declines his dinner invitations. Meanwhile, Danny pays a call on his son whom he has never met. Bobby Cannivale plays the son, Tom, and Jennifer Garner plays Samantha, his wife. Their daughter is adorably played by Giselle Eisenberg, but she has some learning issues. Tom wants nothing to do with his father, but the charming Collins worms his way in. I loved this movie. Charming, well written and certainly well acted. Of note, the R rating is for drug use being shown.
