Chief Chick Comments

If the men in your life like musicals and a bit of action, they can probably see Beauty and the Beast. This movie is highly anticipated and pretty much lives up to expectations. Even if Disney and the theaters are charging much more than the usual price for a ticket(I advise going on a weekday and morning if you can swing it for a better price). Emma Watson is a charming Belle and Dan Stevens with lots of make-up a very convincing Beast. Loved Kevin Kline as Belle's father although I did not recognize him right away. You will recognize many of the voices of the castle objects which while under the spell can move and speak...they include Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Audra McDonald and Stanley Tucci. Near the end of the movie I remembered there was some "to-do" in another country about a gay character. Had not a clue which was the gay character so it is not very obvious. If I could not see it, how could a child? In the very last scene, I had a hint, but had I not known there was an issue, I might night have picked up on the performance of this character which was very good! The story is a bit different from the animated version of 1991, but I loved it non-the-less.
