Chief Chick Comments

Directed by Rob Reiner, this charming movie is reminiscent of Something's Gotta Give and As Good As It Gets. Apparently, even folks in their mid 60's can have romance ( I say this tongue in cheek!) as widower Orin Little lives in a four flat in Connecticut on the water which he owns. He is trying to sell his former home, a beautiful mansion for $8.6 million when he estranged son shows up to ask him to care for a granddaughter, Sarah, whom Orin did not know existed. Orin's son, Luke, is going to prison for 6-9 months and asks Orin to care for his 9 year old daughter named after Orin's dead wife. Predictably, the grumpy Orin says no, but when Luke drops Sarah off the day he must report to prison, neighbor, Leah, played by Diane Keaton steps up to rescue the little girl as her father drives off. Gradually, Orin begins to become a real person, but very very slowly. A charming romantic comedy.
