Bradley Cooper is always cute (as are Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone), but focusing on the eye candy, Bradley Cooper turns in another good performance in this relatively light, somewhat complicated romantic comedy with international thriller overtones. As we can tell from the title Aloha takes place in Hawaii. Brian Gilchrist, Cooper, almost died several years before in the Middle East. We eventually discover that he is some kind of Space Program wizard who starting working for a billionaire contractor, Bill Murray, when the US stopped funding large parts of the space program. After that incident, he is getting a second chance which involves talking the King of the Hawaiians into blessing some minor pedestrian bridge. Murray's company is launching a satellite but all is not as it seems. Gilchrist has two complications… his previous love is now married to an Air Force pilot and they have two children, and his escort is Captain Ng, Emma Stone, who is 1/4 Hawaiian and a little too much for him to handle. The movie concludes in a way I didn't expect and was pretty delightful. John Krasinski plays the pilot husband of Rachel McAdams who does not talk more than a few words a day and this makes for some interesting non-dialogue. Overall, fun to watch but the dialogue could be spruced up. The scenery, of course, is lovely and the rapport between Stone and Cooper is pretty good. Never-the-less, I have trouble seeing and reconciling the two sides of Stone's character. Over all, though, light fun. See it, you will like it!
