While details stray from the actual events, the story is true and I remember the headlines from the time. Michelle Williams is fabulous as Gail Getty, the divorced wife of J Paul Getty Jr who is a drug addict. She lives in Rome with her children when her eldest, Paolo, is kidnapped by radicals seeking a $17 million ransom. Predictably, John Paul Getty says he won't pay a dime, but does put his security guy played by Mark Wahlberg on the case. The settings and dress are true period and quite good. As you may know Christopher Plummer was hired after the filming was finished to replace Kevin Spacey.
